ON French Culture

L’Oie Naudiere appreciates all things related to French Culture, Lifestyle and Travel.

France has been known for its great culture for a number of centuries with many of its artists recognized for their forward and innovative thinking and plenty of chefs recognized for their fine contributions to cuisine.  Part of the reason for the rich culture of the country is the fact that most of the political regimes of France have always supported arts and in fact a position titled the Ministry of Culture was created in 1959 to help preserve the rich cultural heritage of France.

Every year France opens its doors to the highest number of tourists from across the globe, which is largely in part to the many different historical buildings and cultural hotspots that are spread out across the country.  In fact, it boasts 1,200 different museums that open their doors collectively to over 50 million people per year.  The government is in charge of running the major cultural sites via the Centre des monuments, which takes care of the national historical locations.

Important components of the French culture include painting, the Gothic architecture such as Notre Dame, the literature, and music, which was most prominent during the 17th century when classical music ruled the country.  France has also been renowned for its cinema and in more modern times in particular for the Cannes Festival, which is one of the largest and most respected of the world’s film festivals.
